Kate Middleton was relatively a newcomer in the royal family in 2011, but she already managed to snub to long-time members of the British clan. Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie felt snubbed by the Duchess of Cambridge years ago and on several occasions.
A source previously told Daily Mail that royalty is all about the pecking order. This means that, even though the Duchess of Cambridge just joined the royal family in 2011, she earned a much higher position than Prince William’s cousins.
Ever since she joined the British clan, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie’s roles were reduced. The royal siblings were particularly enraged when the mom of three was tapped to join Queen Elizabeth II on their solo engagement during the Diamond Jubilee.
Even before Kate Middleton tied the knot with Prince William, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s daughters already felt snubbed by the future Queen. In 2008, they were asked to give up their front-row seats at the London Fashion Show to make way for Middleton and her younger sister, Pippa Middleton. But, at that time, they refused to give up their spot.
Things became much worse for the royals after Prince William and Kate Middleton refused to invite Fergie to their royal wedding at Westminster Abbey. Since Ferguson is no longer an official member of the royal family after her divorce from Prince Andrew, the Cambridges felt that there was no need for her to be at their nuptials.
However, this decision upset Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, who is very close to their parents. To make things worse, the couple didn’t also invite Princess Beatrice’s then-boyfriend, Dave Clark, to their wedding.
“William has the Spencer paranoia gene,” the source said. “Dave is a gregarious, chatty American and William is so private it hurts. He would accuse his dog of being indiscreet if it barked at someone else too often,” the insider added.
Following Prince William and Clark’s falling out, the Duke of Cambridge’s relationship with Princess Beatrice was also gravely affected. But, Princess Beatrice and Clark, eventually, called it quits in 2016.
