Hailey Baldwin opened up in an interview on Tuesday about how she makes sure her mental health takes top billing. The interview came a week after her husband, Justin Bieber, asked for prayers from his fans, saying he’s been struggling a lot with his mental illness.
Baldwin revealed going the extra mile when it comes to making herself feel as good on the inside as she does on the outside. She said self-care takes many forms, including eating right, drinking a lot of water and working out. “It’s really good for your mentality,” she said. “I think your mental health should be no. 1, and it falls to the side a lot,” she added.
Sharing a bit about her self-care routine, the 22-year-old model revealed going to the beach regularly to put her feet up. According to Baldwin, there is something about spending a day at the beach that makes her feel hale and hearty. “The sound of the ocean, being in the sun — there are so many things that are healthy about the beach to me,” she said.
Although Baldwin is aware that many are suffering from mental illnesses today — her husband included — she is happy that the discussion of mental health has already managed to trickle into the mainstream. The attention given on mental health these days, she said, has improved over the years. And as far as mental health is concerned, she believes awareness should take precedence.
Earlier this month, Bieber updated his fans about his mental illness, revealing that he has been receiving treatment for depression. According to a source, Bieber is receiving treatment on both coast but is doing just fine. “He is very, very focused on getting better. He wants to be in a great place for his own and Hailey’s sake,” the source said, adding that his goal is to be “in a great place” for him and his wife.
Just this week, Bieber and Baldwin took a few days off in Los Angeles, where they were spotted spending a day together on the beach. Baldwin has reportedly been very supportive of her husband throughout his ordeal, not putting any pressure on him at all.
