Justin Bieber Reveals Why He Couldn't Stay Faithful To Hailey Baldwin At First

Justin Bieber recently opened up to Apple Music’s Zane Lowe about his marriage to Hailey Baldwin and how their journey to the altar wasn’t a walk in the park. Bieber and Baldwin tied the knot in 2018, two years after they started dating in 2016.

According to Justin Bieber, he and Baldwin met at a time when he was not yet ready to commit to anyone. Baldwin reportedly agreed to label their relationship as non-exclusive and to keep everything between them casual, since Bieber was still “very hurt” and figuring out his way following his high-profile, on-and-off relationship with singer Selena Gomez.

“I’d let her know prior to the tour when we were hanging a lot,” said Bieber. “I was at the point where I’d done that in the past. And I just was honest with her, I was like, ‘I’m not in a place to be faithful,’ and all this sort of stuff, that I wanted to be—but I just wasn’t there yet,” he added.

Bieber said it took him a while to realize he was actually dealing with a lot of unforgiveness in his heart. After realizing that he was already causing Baldwin pain, things took a turn for them and their relationship. “I was just in a place where I knew I didn’t want to tell Hailey one thing and… I felt like she respected me at the time and I had a lot of respect for her, and so I just didn’t want to say something and then she’d see me off doing some other thing,” he said.

The singer revealed Baldwin loved her and seeing her hurt when she’s with other people had also hurt her. As a result, Baldwin also went out and did things that hurt him. “And so just this hurt, I’ve hurt her, she hurt me,” he said. After leaving on a tour, they decided to cut ties.

Bieber said he and Baldwin decided to patch things up after he came back and got engaged months later. Now, he and Baldwin have been married for more than a year and Bieber couldn’t be any prouder to call Baldwin his wife. “I’m freaking married now,” he said. “I got the best wife in the world. She supports me through so much. I’m really honored to be her husband,” he added.

During the interview, Bieber also admitted how his marriage to Baldwin differs from his relationship with Gomez. “In my previous relationship, I went off and just went crazy and went wild, just was being reckless,” he told Lowe.

Bieber had been in an on and off relationship with Gomez for nine years before Bieber married Hailey Baldwin. Their last breakup was in March 2018, just three months before Bieber proposed to the American model and TV personality.
