Earlier this month, Justin Bieber told the world (via social media) that he’d had the opportunity to FaceTime with non other than the admirable, Malala Yousafzai: the Pakistani student who survived a Taliban attack, and is now an activist for young women and girls’ rights. Malala, who is no stranger to meeting with highly important public figures, has met with President Obama, Queen Elizabeth II and many other world leaders, most likely to continue her efforts to support women’s education in her country. So why talk to Bieber on the phone? The reason is very simple: she told CNN last year she’s a big fan!
While the pop-star has been somewhat out of control lately; with three arrests earlier this year which led to talks about banning him from the US, he is also known for all his charity work. He’s fulfilled over 200 wishes for kids with terminal illnesses through Make-A-Wish foundation. The latest wish he fulfilled was taking Grace Kesablak to the Young Hollywood Awards as his date, where he won the Champion of Charity Award.
We think Yousafzai didn’t want to make every other teenage girl on the planet jealous, and it’s probably why she didn’t tweet about it. Even so, the singer’s tweet implied the possibility of them meeting in person, but Biebers’ reps did not comment on the matter. Hopefully the two will meet and join forces to support another really good cause.
