In the midst of a bloody week in Venezuela over the results of last week's election, Judge Luisa Estela Morales has announced that no manual recount is possible.
"Manual recount was eliminated from the Constitution in 1999. Since then, vote count in Venezuela is completely automatic," judge Morales stated on Wednesday in a press conference.
Opposition leader Henrique Capriles, who barely lost to Chavez's heir Nicolás Maduro, has announced that he would be filing an official request for a recount, on the basis that the vote count had not been done legitimately. However, judge Morales confirmed that no request had been filed.
Morales urged to all of those who felt uneasy with the results of the election to go to legal and constitutional means to express their disagreement.
She also stated that the conflicts of the last days will not go by unacknowledged, and that the 75 denounces that have been brought to the Tribunal will be given the proper attention.
