Juanes has just introduced his new single "La Luz," the first cut from his upcoming album, due next year. The new song was written by the singer, and recorded at the Hensen Studios in Los Angeles, California, with the help of musician and Mexican producer, Emmanuel "Meme" del Real, also known for being a member of the acclaimed band Café Tacvba, Abe Laboriel and Brian Ray, known for working with Paul McCartney. It was produced by Steve Lillywhite, who has also collaborated with U2, The Killers and The Rolling Stones just to mention a few.
This was Lillywhite's first time working on a Spanish song, and he took it to Twitter to express his excitement and also his frustration for not being able to speak the language, and not understanding people's reactions to the song. "I wish I could understand Spanish to read what people think of #LaLuz!" he wrote. The song is a very energetic tune with a lot of Latin American sounds that give it a very tropical vibe, without separating too much from Juanes' rock n' roll roots.
The new upcoming album, which "La Luz" is a part of, follows the highly successful "MTV Unplugged," which won two Latin Grammys and one Grammy. Besides winning music's most coveted awards, the album became one of the Latin hits of the year, selling over half a million copies worldwide and igniting a world tour of 120 concerts in 26 countries. "La Luz" also has a music video, which was shot in Cartagena, Colombia, and will be released in the upcoming days. In the meantime, you can enjoy Juanes' new song, "La Luz" below.
