Ever since he fell off stage during one of his concerts, José José assures that he's not the same. The Mexican singer says that after the mishap, he's been walking with a "flat tire" and in "slow motion." "Sometimes I can stand slowly or I need someone's help, but there I go. Because I do everything: work, walk, sing and exercise," he said to TV y Novelas.
In addition, José José, born José Rómulo Sosa Ortiz, has been known for having other health issues which includes pneumonia, diabetes and emphysema, to name a few. Though the 67-year-old is very sick and as a result has lost a lot of weight, he states that he's not ready to die. "No, what's wrong with you! I've got a thousand things to do at all levels, personally and professionally," he told the magazine.
The "El Triste" singer, however, does have an idea of how he wants to die, and similar to "La Chilindrina," he'd like to be cremated.
"I asked to be cremated and that half of my ashes go to Veracruz and the other half to Acapulco," he told TV y Novelas. "Although I'm not the one to decide, because I belong to the public; then it's whatever they want. It's what God and my audience desire," he added.
José José, known as "El Principe de la Cancion," has been crooning the world with his romantic melodies since the early 1960's. He can proudly state that he'll be sticking around for a long time. "In my own perspective, what did God try to tell me with this? I'm not paralyzed, so let's get moving!," he said. "Every day I thank God for letting me live, and for being able to be with my wife and children. I have a granddaughter and 500 million friends, I have friends who've fallen in love with my songs. What more can I ask for?"
