Joan Sebastian's daughter, Zarelea Figueroa, released her first musical production and premiere a duet song with her late father. Figueroa interpreted the song "Los Monstruos," for the first time, in the morning TV show "Despierta America."
In an interview moments before singing, she says that although she may not have the opportunity to sing the song live with Sebastian, she doesn't feel alone, since she understands that he is accompanying her in this musical adventure, and she will keep alive his legacy.
"My album is a new concept, we are mixing mariachi and banda," says the Mexican singer. "The plan is to do the equestrian show, it's not easy, as they would say in my town 'they're not enchiladas,' you have to be physically prepared to do it, but it's definitely what I want," she added. Figueroa affirms that indeed the equestrian show was a dream that she wanted to fulfill next to "El Rey del Jaripeo."
The singer also recounted how days before she appeared in the show, she dreamed of her father and he assured her that everything would be fine. "I wake up so happy," she says with a big smile. "Dreams are their way of communicating with us."
"I remember my dad saying to me: 'daughter, soak up the music, listen to music, everything, listen to rock, listen to classical music, everything'" said Figueroa when Lourdes Stephen asked her about what Joan Sebastian would say if he were alive.
Zarelea is the sister of José Manuel Figueroa (who is also a singer and composer), Juan Sebastián Figueroa-Gonzalez, Trigo de Jesús Figueroa-Gonzalez, (first three children with Teresa Gonzalez, Joan Sebastian first wife), Marcos Julián Figueroa-Fernández (son of Maribel Guardia), Joana Marcelia Figueroa-Espín, Juliana Joeri Figueroa-Alonso and D'Yave Figueroa-Espín.
