A former Hollywood stunt woman met with an untimely death after getting embroiled in a murky altercation with her ex-husband and his wife, after attempting to ambush them in a driveway.
Cheryl Sanders, 59, and her husband Reed Sanders, 56, were gunned down by Cheryl’s former husband Lindsay Duncan outside Duncan’s residence in Ohio. The deadly shootout, which took place on February 12 was the result of a long-running feud between the former couple over a college trust fund set up for their two daughters. Cheryl and Lindsay had signed a pre-nuptial when they wedded in the year 1999. They parted ways in 2009 and things went into a downward spiral.
Cheryl has taken up body double assignments in the past—for Jessica Alba and Brooke Shields too. Despite being accused of pulling the trigger and ending Cheryl and her current husband’s lives, Lindsay is currently free of all charges as a further probe shed light on the fact that he and his current partner Molly Duncan ‘acted out of self-defense’. In fact, Lindsay was the first to call the cops after the act. “I shot them, they came up to our window and had a gun pointed at my wife's head,” said Lindsay, asserting how he acted out of instinct. While Greene County officials did not summon the Duncans’ nor did they call Lindsay a suspect, the visibly shaken couple held a press conference at their pad to give their versions of the event.
“All I remember was a 6-foot-something 6-foot-5 man, that was probably 230 pounds with a camo mask, a full camo mask and hoodie on, ran to my wife's driver's side with a gun, and held it about 10 inches from her head,” said Lindsey, adding, “I will tell you she (Molly) was in the middle of two separate gun battles, of bullets flying by her head, four inches, five inches, six inches by her, not one time but two separate times. And her being alive today, I'll never be able to explain that. And it wasn't one-shot or two shots, it seemed like a hundred shots and there were shells everywhere. And that's all I can really say, and I've probably said too much but that's enough.”
Lindsay’s version turned out accurate as the surveillance footage prove the same. Reed Sanders is also believed to hold a criminal record, but officials refused to divulge much.
But, Sanders’ friends have a different tale to tell—they termed Lindsay “domineering” and bitter despite having moved on. The threat of being shot dead was allegedly always looming over Cheryl and Reed Sanders.
“It's a very complex set of facts,” said Suzanne Schmidt, Greene County First Assistant Prosecutor, of the shooting. “What we plan to do in a case like this is…once the investigation is done have the matter presented to a Greene County grand jury for a review to see if any charges are warranted. That's typically what we do but it's going to be a long process,” Schmidt added.
