Despite being a dancer all her life, Jennifer Lopez thinks her young self could not have been a “World Of Dance” champion. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight’s Keltie Knight, the “World Of Dance” judge opened up about her early career as a dancer and explained why she might not have had what it takes to be a champion at the time.
Lopez described her young dancer self as “fearless,” saying she did not look at failure as something to be scared of. “I think I was pretty fearless, she said.” I think when you’re younger, you are, like, ignorance is bliss. You have no idea like, ‘I can fall on my face and it’s gonna scar me for 10 years.’ You know none of these things,” she continued.
Given that attitude, Lopez said she probably would not have made it far in “World Of Dance” had she joined the competition when she was young. “I’d like to think I could, but I don’t think I could,” she quipped.
Lopez is currently preparing for the third season of the hit dance series with her co-stars Ne-Yo and Derek Hough. She is also gearing up for her movie “The Hustlers At Scores,” which is currently in pre-production.
Based on a 2015 New York Magazine article, “The Hustlers At Scores” will be top billed by Lopez and “Crazy Rich Asians” star Constance Wu. The synopsis for the movie suggests that it will center on a group of dancers who get their revenge on rich, drunk and abusive clients by maxing out their credit cards.
Lopez has been seriously preparing for her role in the movie, recently revealing to Ellen DeGeneres that she had to ditch carbs and sugar from her diet and work out a lot to stay fit and healthy for the upcoming flick.
On Monday, the 49-year-old superstar shared a video of her workout to her fans, saying she’s working on strength training for “The Hustlers At Scores.” Her partner, Alex Rodriguez, also shared earlier this week a video of Lopez pole dancing as she prepares for her role as a stripper in the movie.
“World Of Dance” Season 3 will air on Feb. 26 at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
