Jennifer Lopez’s beau Alex Rodriguez just gave his ladylove the biggest surprise of her life. On Ellen DeGeneres Show, the “Jenny From The Block” singer revealed that in honor of their second anniversary, Rodriguez had secretly commissioned “Fixer Upper” star Joanna Gaines to fix up their $6.6-million-dollar Malibu mansion.
According to J.Lo, she and Rodriguez recently visited the beach property and talked about how it needed some work. “I was like, ‘Wouldn’t it be amazing to have her do it for us?’ But she doesn’t do anything outside of Waco. Like, nothing,’” she said, referring to Gaines.
The singer has long been a fan of the designer, and she couldn’t think of another designer to get the new property up to their standards, but she didn’t think her wish would be a reality.
When J.Lo floated the idea of enlisting Gaines for the project, she was simply joking to Rodriguez. Little did she know her wish didn’t fall on deaf ears — her boyfriend was already planning to get Gaines onboard to oversee the remodel of the property.
J.Lo recounted to Ellen how Rodriguez pulled off the surprise. On the day of their anniversary, her boyfriend asked her to attend a meeting with an architect.
“…He goes, ‘I want you to go to this meeting with us for the architect for the house.’ And I was like, ‘OK, great,’” J. Lo shared. When she arrived, Rodriguez opened up FaceTime and J.Lo was shocked to see Gaines on the other line. “And I was like, ‘Are you kidding? Hi!’” she continued.
As the property is located in Waco, Texas, Gaines traveled all the way to J.Lo’s location to help her plan the design of her home. Earlier this week, the two were spotted starting their work on the Malibu property. Although details about how they’re going to modify the property remain scarce, considering Gaines’ magic touch, there is no doubt that J.Lo and Rodriguez’s massive Malibu property will turn out to be one spectacular fixer upper.
The power couple purchased the three-story beach house from “Entourage” star Jeremy Pivens back in February. It has four bedrooms, 3.25 bathrooms and a wraparound deck.
