Janney "Chiquis" Marin Rivera, the daughter of the late regional Mexican singer Jenni Rivera, is following in her mother's footsteps and released her first single titled "Paloma Blanca." The name of the song is a nod to the song "Paloma Negra," which Jenni dedicated to her daughter during her last concert. The video Chiquis posted online shows her wearing a white dress and the track openes with the lyrics, "you don't know how much I miss you, beyond the wounds." Marin's tune is dedicated to her deceased mother who died in a tragic plane crash in December 2012. Listen to full song down below!
"Today, that I long for your laughter, from a star you take care of me," Chiquis sings in the Regional Mexican track. "I wish I could give you a hug, regain that trust and even though we didn't have time, I know that your soul now rests." At the time of Jenni's death the mother-daughter were in non-speaking terms. Rumors around their broken relationship pointed that Chiquis had something to do with Jenni's seperation from her husband. Marin has always denied the rumors and she has never revealed what caused the break-up with her mother. In the heartfelt song she hints at their rocky relationship. "I was probably wrong, but it was never that bad. It is out of this world to betray someone that I love so much." Marin Rivera's guilt is heard all over the tune as she asks for forgiveness in her song.
YouTube has some harsh words for Jenni's daughter and questions her talent. "Wow she is really bad. She is using her mom's fame & money," user Mayicortes wrote in the comments section. "There are so many talented people with actual talent/vocals out there that can't make it because they don't have the money and/or the privilege to know a famous person." Juicycouturequeen91 wrote, "It's sad because there are so many singers/ songwriters on YouTube who can sing and have real talent and chiquis gets to make music and release a cd." Another user by the name of Alma Caro weighed in, "Horrible ... Sorry but I can't listen to that ..."
Not all comments were bad and she did receive some praise like from Yolysan69, "Wow! Brought me to tears ... considering she is not a singer, she sounds awsome!!" Fernanda Sauceda on YouTube also gave positive feedback, "Good Job Chiquis, your mom is so proud of your hard love you keep the hard work. Keep your head up. Your a strong person." We want to know what you think of Chiquis' debut song, love it or hate it?
