Jenna Wolfe, the "Today" show's Sunday anchor came out as a lesbian while also announcing that she and girlfriend Stephanie Gosk are expecting their first baby, a girl, together in August.
Gosk, 40, is also a journalist serving as a foreign correspondent for NBC. She and Wolfe, 39, have been together for about three years and plan to get married sometime after the baby's arrival. They are keeping the identity of the sperm donor a secret, but Wolfe did confirm to E! News that it's not co-host Lester Holt.
Wolfe is the author of a blog on the "Today" website, and she discusses their decision for starting a family.
"Something just sort of told me it was time," Wolfe writes on her blog. "Two years into a great relationship and we felt like we wanted to share our adventures with a wide-eyed, little person. The more we talked about it, the better the idea seemed. And so in December, we embarked on Operation Baby. And might I just add that despite the morning sickness, it's been the best decision we've ever made."
Wolfe made the big announcement on the "Today" show.
"I have some big news, this is actually big for me," Wolfe announced on "Today." "I'm actually pregnant. I'm quite pregnant, in fact. My girlfriend Stephanie Gosk, who works here also at NBC, we're expecting a baby girl at the end of August."
Their exciting announcement is also featured in this week's People magazine.
"This is the most exciting thing that has ever happened to us," Wolfe told People. "But I don't want to bring my daughter into a world where I'm not comfortable telling everyone who I am and who her mother is."
