It’s easy to fall in love with a movie character; we can go home from the movie theater and forget about them. But TV characters take more devotion and this year has brought awesome ones, which have made the cut into Vanity Fair’s 15 Best New TV Characters of 2014, including those from CW’s “Jane The Virgin” who have charmed audiences all over the US. The magazine picked two entire ensembles, calling it “cheating”, but apparently they just couldn’t pick out their favorite characters from HBO’s “Silicon Valley” or from FX’s “You’re The Worst.”
Rogelio De La Vega was the magazine’s pick from “Jane The Virgin” which is played “to perfection” by Jaime Camil. De la Vega is a super famous telenovela star in the sitcom, just like Camil is in real life, who seems vane and shallow at first, but once you’re acquainted you can see the man has good intentions. He plays Gina Rodriguez’s father in the show and while they magazine has much love for her, the think she can forgive them for not picking her as she is “basking in the glow of all the recent awards attention.”
Other characters who made the list include, Diane Johnson from “Black-ish”, played by Marsai Martin; Young Nucky Thompson from “Boardwalk Empire”, played by Marc Pickering; Dr. Bigelow from “Louie”, played by Charles Grodin; Dandy Mott from “American Horror Story: Freak Show”, played by Finn Wittrock; The Mother from “How I Met Your Mother” played by Cristin Milioti; Vanessa Ives from “Penny Dreadful”, played by Eva Green; Yvonne ‘Vee’ Parker from “Orange Is the New Black”, played by Lorraine Toussaint; Henry Higgs from “Selfie”, played by John Cho; Rust Cohle and Marty Hart from “True Detective”, played by Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey; Molly Solverson from “Fargo”, played by Allison Tolman; and in the number 1 spot is occupied by the herthronb who crushed our hearts with his brutal end, Oberyn Martell (or Red Viper of Dorne) from “Game of Thrones”, played by Pedro Pascal.
