Will Smith's "life partner" Jada Pinkett Smith has blasted the media over headlines suggesting she struggles to keep things spicy in the bedroom with the actor, something she reportedly told guest Gwyneth Paltrow during her recent "Red Table Talk" episode about sex and intimacy.
Speaking on her Facebook Live series, Pinkett Smith, 50, got candid and revealed to guest Gwyneth Paltrow how difficult it is to maintain a physical relationship with Smith, 53, after tying the knot decades ago in 1997, according to the Insider.
She further admitted she occasionally feels "uncomfortable" making the first move on Will, who she said is someone she considers more as a "life partner" than a husband.
"The thing Will and I talk about a lot is the journey," Jada said. "We started this at a very young age, you know, 22 years old. That's why the accountability part hit for me because I think you expect your partner to know [what you need], especially when it comes to sex."
Previously, Jada revealed that they no longer refer to each other as "married" as early as 2018. At the time, she talked about how their concept of marriage evolved over the years.
During her latest "Red Table Talk" episode, the host would also praise Paltrow for experiencing the "best sex of her life" as they tackle intimacy and women's sexual health to promote the Goop founder's new Netflix project, "Sex, Love, and Goop."
"Isn't it weird, though? It's like someone doesn't read your mind and we feel crushed," Gwyneth added at one point during the interview.
However, Jada's comments on her sex life would backfire and create so much noise on social media. Some supporters of Will would also attack her for "embarrasing" the actor. It ultimately saw multiple publications run stories claiming the couple is having issues in the bedroom, to which Pinkett Smith addressed and denied on Twitter.
Last month, Will broke his silence and confirmed he is in an open marriage with Jada, noting it was a mutual agreement that they would no longer practice monogamy because Pinkett Smith "never believed in conventional marriage" anyway.
"Jada had family members that had an unconventional relationship," the “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" actor added.
In July 2018, he explained that the freedom they both enjoy as "life partners" is their symbol of love for each other because they strongly believe their marriage can't serve as a "prison" for them, according to Page Six.
“I don’t suggest our road for anybody. I don’t suggest this road for anybody,” he noted. “But the experiences that the freedoms that we’ve given one another and the unconditional support, to me, is the highest definition of love.”
