J Balvin's new hit makes it almost impossible not to move your body to the beat. The "Ellen DeGeneres Show" audience dance during the Halloween episode, to the rhythm of "Mi Gente," a song that fuse reggaeton, African, electronic and Caribbean sounds.
The song is being embraced globally, and currently currently leads Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart and surpased the one billion streams. The collab version with Beyoncé peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100.
During the episode Ellen was dressesed up as the lesser known Kardashian sister, Karla Kardashian, with a baby-on-board, and J Balvin rocked a white suit, black tee and hat.
"Mi Gente" is a featuring with French artist Willy William, and the official video includes various cameos, like Italian millionaire Gianluca Vacchi and singer Anitta. The remix version features Queen B, that moved by the natural disasters in Mexico, Puerto Rico, the Caribbean and the U.S. decided to donate all her proceeds to the relief of all those affected.
At 32, J Balvin has already added four studio albums, the last one: Energía, ranked 24th among the 50 best albums of 2016 Billboard, being the only Latin album of the urban genre in the list.
In 2009 Balvin released his first single "Ella Me Cautivó" becoming his first song charted in the United States, which serves as the first single from his debut studio album Real that was released in 2009 and received a Gold certification.
In 2014, he released the fifth single "La Venganza." An expanded version of La Familia subtitled B Sides was released on September 16, 2014, that spawned the hit single "Ay Vamos," that eventually topped the charts in Colombia, Dominican Republic and the Billboard Latin Rhythm Songs.
