Apple has officially kicked off its iTunes SXSW Music Festival in Austin. Five shows will be held starting Tuesday Mar. 11 and ending Mar. 15. The shows will serve as a part of the film and music-focused SXSW festivals and be featuring performances from Coldplay, Kendrick Lamar, Soundgarden, Pitbull, Keith Urban and more! While the tech giant’s music festivals has been rocking London’s Roundhouse venue annually since 2007, this is the first time for it to take place in the US. Fortunately this time around Apple has given fans who couldn’t make it South by Southwest some streaming options to view the event live from the comfort of your living room. Check out the streaming options below as well as the schedule and start times for the upcoming performances.
Stream the iTunes Festival on an iPhone or iPad Apple has created an official iTunes Festival App available via iTunes or the App store. With the app users has access to information about the artists participating, links to selections from the iTunes music catalog, along with a complete schedule of the the festival performances. To livestream performances, download the iTunes SXSW Festival app from iTunes or the App Store. Once the app is downloaded tune it at the start time of the performance to catch everything live from Austin.
Stream the iTunes Festival on Apple TV Besides an app Apple has also pushed a new iTunes Festival channel to the Apple TV. The channel should already be available for all, in most cases featured prominently among the other channels found on the device’s home page. To stream performances, simply tune in during any of the scheduled concerts.
Stream the iTunes Festival anywhere with VEVO Another cool method comes from music video platform VEVO who will be partnering with Apple to host additional live streams of this week’s iTunes Festival. Apple users can access these streams in several different ways. The first is through the official VEVO app for iPhone and iPad which will simulcast the video stream being fed to Apple’s official app. Apple TV users can also access the show through the VEVO channel. A second option is using the VEVO web-based stream, which is also be available for Mac users through this link here. However, in order to access the stream, the link must be opened in Safari.
