"It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" returns on Wednesday, October 23 for Episode 7 of Season 9 when "Flowers for Charlie" airs on FXX at 10pm EST. Fans of the Gang's rat-bashing, waitress-lusting, paint-huffing goof Charlie (played by Charlie Day) will have plenty to look forward to tonight, as the new episode centers around him. According to a press release from the show, "when an experiment successfully multiplies Charlie's intellect and takes him away from the bar, the rest of the gang find themselves struggling to complete the menial 'Charlie Work' that has kept the bar running for so long." Check out the link at the bottom of the page to watch the episode tonight as it streams live.
Last week's episode, "The Gang Gets Quarantined", saw the gang voluntarily quarantining themselves inside of Paddy's Pub after a flu outbreak hit the City of Brotherly Love in an attempt to keep their singing voices intact for an upcoming competition. At stake was the chance to open for hometown favorites Boyz II Men, and Dennis (Glenn Howerton) put on a good display of his delusions about his physical prowess and talent. As per usual, all of the Gang's bluster and pomp went for naught. Spoilers alert here, if you haven't already seen it: turns out all Charlie, Dee, Mac and Dennis had to do to cure themselves of their "sickness" was drink, as they are of course deep in the throes of alcoholism and had been experiencing withdrawal. II Men came down with the flu and canceled the concert, anyway.
Fans of "It's Always Sunny..." often show the same kind of outrageous, self-loathing devotion that actual Philadelphians show for their sports teams, so if you think you're a big fan of the show, you've got some stiff competition. Kaitlin Olson told Metro Entertainment about the weirdest expression of love for what she and the rest of the "Gang" do. "The weirdest thing is people getting our [five] faces tattooed on their bodies," she said. "And it's not just one or two, it's happened, like, a big handful of times. And I am shocked every single time. People will tweet us pictures." She went on to advise viewers against ruining their futures in that way because, "The show is going to end one day. And that body will -- hopefully -- be around for a very long time."
Glenn Howerton was saying recently that aside from the flu epidemic treated in "The Gang Gets Quarantined", this season will feature inoffensive, profound and thoughtful treatments of topics including Thanksgiving and "Lethal Weapon 6". Tonight's episode was written by "Game of Thrones" co-creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. "It's kind of like 'Limitless,' where I'm taking a pill to be more smarter," Charlie Day says of it.
