"It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" reach their milestone 100th episode on Wednesday, Oct. 9 when "The Gang Saves the Day," Episode 6 of Season 9 of the series, airs on FXX at 10pm EST. In an interview with Yahoo! News, Glenn Howerton, who plays Dennis on the show, called the 100th episode "definitely one of our higher-concept episodes. It's a big swing ... maybe our biggest swing ever, actually. It's strange; it's f**king weird. The structure of the episode is very odd. But that's part of the fun of our show: You never really know what you're gonna get, week to week."
According to a press release from the show, the new episode will see more gun-related action to add to a season which has already seen the Gang catch "gun fever": "When a routine trip to a convenience store places the gang in the middle of an armed robbery, each of them is forced to explore how they react in extreme situations." With eight years on the air, the show is now the longest-running live-action comedy in cable history, though they've taken their sweet time getting to the 100th-episode milestone.
Are you a pretty big fan of "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia"? No, you're not -- at least, not compared to the Gang's truly diehard fans. It takes place in the city of Philadelphia, after all, where if you're not a raucous diehard then you're not a fan at all. But Kaitlin Olson told Metro Entertainment recently, fans' expressions of appreciation for "It's Always Sunny ..." can sometimes go way, way over the top. "The weirdest thing is people getting our [five] faces tattooed on their bodies," she said. "And it's not just one or two, it's happened, like, a big handful of times. And I am shocked every single time. People will tweet us pictures." She went on to tell viewers to please, please never do anything like that, because, "The show is going to end one day. And that body will -- hopefully -- be around for a very long time."
Glenn Howerton was saying recently that the ninth season of the Gang's sociopathy will feature episodes about Thanksgiving, "Lethal Weapon 6," and a flu epidemic, among others. There's also one which will probably go down nicely with viewers who want more episodes centered around the Gang's biggest goofball, Charlie. That one's called "Flowers for Charlie", and it was written by "Game of Thrones" co-creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. "It's kind of like 'Limitless,' where I'm taking a pill to be more smarter," Charlie Day says of that episode. You can catch "The Gang Saves The Day" HERE as it streams live at 10 p.m. on FXX.
