The search is over for on the run homicide suspect Isabella Guzman. The Colorado teen was wanted for questioning in the stabbing death of her mother. The unidentified victim was stabbed 13 times and pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the police arrived. The suspect in this case, 18-year-old Isabella Guzman was nowhere to be found after the murder. Police released her name and a photo to the media saying she was armed and dangerous. Police eventually found Guzman hiding in a parking garage around 11:30am on Thursday. No formal charges have been filed as of yet.
At 10:05pm Wednesday night Aurora police responded to a domestic disturbance call at the Guzman home. When officers arrived they found a man waiting for them at the front door. The witness told the cops a woman was upstairs, wounded and in need of help. Neighbors in Guzman's community told CBS that the police were often called to go to the Guzman home. Neighbors called 911 on several occasions after seeing men scale the home's fence. The men would later be revealed to be Guzman's boyfriends.
Police were called to the parking garage where Guzman was found after hearing reports of a body in the truck of a car. When police found the car in question there was no body. After searching the vehicle the officers found evidence that was linked to the stabbing death of Guzman's mother. Frank Fania a spokesperson for the Aurora police told 9News, "We brought in a K-9 and started to do a search of the parking garage. We believe Ms. Guzman saw this coming and saw the dog doing a search and tried to walk out of the parking garage and ultimately was recognized by some of our officers and taken into custody."
Isabella Guzman's father Robert Guzman spoke with the Denver Post about his daughter's relationship with his ex-wife. According to Robert Guzman the pair would argue constantly. Robert Guzman told the post his daughter and her mother "were getting into fights all the time." The suspect's father also told the Post his daughter had spit in her mother's face the night before the murder. "She was really a hard working woman," Robert Guzman said of his ex-wife. "She tried really hard for her family but Isabella didn't appreciate anything she did for her."
