Apparently Apple's highly rumored larger screen iPhone 6 is expected to be delayed until 2015. According to MacRumors the 5.5-inch device is said to be having production issues. The site reports that KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said the production issues surrounding the smaller, 4.7-inch, iPhone 6 will carry over to the larger device. However, if you trace back to every iPhone release there are always reports like this that pop up months before that claim the device will be delayed due to production issues.
The production issue at hand is a bit technically complicated but, Kuo's report said, "Production bottlenecks on 4.7-inch iPhone 6 center on the yield rate of in-cell touch panel and metal casing. As in-cell touch panel becomes larger in size, the edge of the panel may become insensitive to touch. Meanwhile, under new manufacturing process for the iPhone 6 metal casing, color unevenness is an issue."
According to Kuo's report these problems become more complicated with the larger iPhone 6 device. If these problems persist we won't see the 5.5-inch device this year but most likely in 2015. Although other reports say the larger smartphone will launch after October but in very limited quantities.
Earlier reports said the 5.5-inch model would see production issues with the battery and display but have since been dispelled. According to a report from Bloomberg, both models would enter production and launch at the same time.
Apple is expecting to announce both iPhone's later this year with launch dates immediately after. Besides the two display options Apple is expected to add a slimmer bezel, thinner profile, faster processor and much more. Of course Apple will update the iPhone's camera, which is said to feature an optical image stabilization system and enhanced camera module.
