The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus was first released on Sept. 19 in ten countries, including the United States, Australia, and the UK. On Sept. 26, the latest iPhones were finally available in 22 additional countries, including Spain, Italy, and New Zealand. However, we could not confirm the iPhone 6 release date in China until now.
According to the latest announcements, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will finally arrive to the biggest smartphone market in the world on Oct. 17. According to PCWorld, pre-orders for the iPhones will start Oct. 10. Reuters reported that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology tested the personal data security of both iPhone 6 models before China's regulating body approved the devices for the Chinese market.
In July, Chinese state broadcaster CCTV claimed that Apple iPhones threatened national security because the device allegedly possessed the ability to track a user's location. The ministry is also concerned that the new iOS is prone to leaking personal information. Given the recent "Fappening" scandal, the fears are definitely justified.
"The ministry discussed the issue with Apple and raised related requirements on security management,"said a statement. Apple pledged to upgrade security and protect privacy. What's more, Apple also emphasized that the company never established a so-called backdoor with any government organization of any country.
"We are thrilled to bring iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus to our customers in China on all three carriers at launch," said Apple CEO Tim Cook. The three carriers are China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom.
