A South Bend, Indiana, mother taken into custody last month after running over her 8-year-old daughter while playing a "game" outside their apartment complex has been charged with neglect.
According to a local police report, Jasmine White, 27, would frequently play a "game" with her children that entailed pretending to drive away and leave them behind.
On August 29, White reportedly sped away faster than usual, while her young daughter was gripping the door handle. The girl's foot was subsequently caught under the rear tire, causing her to trip and hit the ground with violent force.
Her daughter reportedly lost five teeth and received multiple skull fractures and a facial laceration due to the accident.
16 News Now reported that one of children told police "it was part of a game" their mom "routinely plays where she races the kids to the car, locks the doors and acts as though she is going to leave them behind."
White is set to appear in court this Monday, September 23, to face charges of neglect of a dependent resulting in serious injury and neglect of a dependent, placing the dependent in a dangerous situation.
