On Sunday afternoon, a fatal car crash on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles took the life of one person. It was reported that Sami Hayek, brother of Oscar nominated actress Salma Hayek was involved in the crash but came out alive with several broken ribs and a laceration to his head. Hayek was driving a 2006 Ford GT when he lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a truck. The incident happened in the 10200 block of Sunset around 4:50 p.m.

Hayek's vehicle crossed into the westbound lanes and collided with a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, according to Los Angeles Police Department. The driver of the truck was identified as Alvin Javier Gomez, a 20-year-old resident of Los Angeles. He was rushed to the hospital and only suffered from a broken foot. Hayek’s passenger, however, was pronounced dead at the scene. At first he was described as a 43-year-old Mexican resident, whose identity was not revealed. Until now.

1. Ian Cuttler Sala worked at Sony Music NY for nine years before becoming a photographer. At Sony he created visual campaigns for musicians like Beyoncé, Ricky Martin, Billy Joel, Mariah Carey, Julio Iglesias, Marc Anthony and Destiny’s Child.

2. He won a Grammy in 2006 for best art direction for the "Johnny Cash: The Legend" box set.

3. Ian also earned a Grammy nomination for best art direction for "Louis Armstrong: The Complete Hot Five and Hot Seven Recordings," among other accolades from HOW, Print, The Color Awards and AIGA.
