Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that their three children aren’t deprived of a healthy and real childhood — which will be diametrically opposed to the upbringing that Prince Charles had.
Royal and real may not always go hand in hand, but Prince William and Kate know how crucial it is to strike the perfect balance for their kids. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge always held high regard for Princess Diana’s lucid, frill-free parenting approach and hope to incorporate the same while raising Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
“Diana was all about making the monarchy more approachable and accessible, keeping it real and royal. Making sure William and Harry saw outside the palace’s wall,” revealed royal expert Imogen Lloyd Webber during an interview with People.
The royal couple has always taken pride in leading a relatively normal life as far as they can. The Duchess of Cambridge likes to keep things humble, fuss-free and yet rooted in tradition. And they wish for nothing less for their children.
“It was all about going to McDonald’s and going to theme parks, going skying – all those sorts of things and also visiting the homeless. William and Harry have very much brought that into their own families,” she added.
It’s clear that Prince William and Kate don’t really believe in going by the (royal) book of rules and wish for opportunities that would expose the three children to a world beyond the Palace’s walls.
The decision to keep it royal yet real could also be attributed to the fact that Prince Charles has had a stilted relationship with the Queen. And that is something that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge do not seem to be very proud of.
It is stated that Prince Charles had a very cushioned upbringing – having nannies at their beck and call, not indulging in real activities or even being a part of long-haul trips.
What’s interesting is that the royal commentator also hinted at what Prince William and Kate have in mind for their kids. “You’ll see George, Charlotte, and Louis going from Trooping the Colour to having a picnic at a polo match.”
