Queen Elizabeth is reportedly thinking about abdicating the throne soon so that Prince Charles could take over. And the biggest clue that this could happen was revealed at the State Opening of Parliament.

During the event, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles accompanied Her Majesty. Even though Camilla didn’t have any participation in the program, she sat close to her mother-in-law in front of the crowds.

A source claimed that the monarch’s decision to bring the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall to the State Opening of Parliament was purposeful and thought out. Palace staff revealed that this was the Queen’s way of showing the world that she wants to make the royal couple the next king and queen as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, the Queen’s rumored plans to abdicate in favor of Prince Charles and Camilla didn’t sit well with some members of the royal family, especially Prince William and Kate Middleton. The Duke of Cambridge was rumored to take over the throne from his grandmother because Britons favor him for the role more than Prince Charles.

In recent months, reports also swirled that Her Majesty had been preparing Prince William for his future role as king. As such, her sudden change of heart made the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge furious.

“They’ve refused to see or speak to Charles, Camilla or the Queen and are said to be taking their trip to Pakistan to take some time out from the family,” a source told New Idea. But as it was previously announced by Kensington Palace, Prince William and Kate traveled to Pakistan on behalf of the Queen for their overseas tour and not to take a break from their royal duties.

Prince William and Kate’s trip to Pakistan kicked off on Oct. 14, and it ended on Oct. 18, which means that they’re back in London. It’s also important to note that since the Palace didn’t confirm the Queen’s plans to abdicate, it’s a must to take the claims with a grain of salt. In the past, royal experts said that the Queen will never abdicate from the throne.
