Prince William just gave a surprising but also very loving answer when asked how he will react if his three children would come out as gays. The future king said that it will absolutely be fine with him.
During his royal engagement at the Albert Kennedy Trust this week, Prince William spoke to a group of people being supported by the LGBT charity. While there, he was asked how he would react if one day his children would tell him they’re gays.
“Do you know what, I’ve been giving that some thought recently because a couple of other parents said that to me as well,” he said. “I think, you really don’t start thinking about that until you are a parent, and I think — obviously, absolutely fine by me,” he added.
Prince William went on to reveal his biggest worry if his three children would come out as gays. He said that he’s most concerned about how their sexual preferences will be interpreted and seen by the public, especially since they have important roles to fill in the royal family.
“So, Catherine and I have been doing a lot of talking about it to make sure they were prepared. I think communication is so important with everything, in order to help understand it, you’ve got to talk a lot about stuff and make sure how to support each other and how to go through the process. It worries me not because of them being gay; it worries me as to how everyone else will react and perceive it and then the pressure is on them,” Prince William said.
In the past, royal fans also had a discussion on what may happen to Prince George if he does come out as gay. The royal fans said that there are currently no rules regarding gay marriages but Prince George tying the knot with a man could cause a constitutional crisis to the monarchy.
One of the trickiest aspects has to do with the fact that the monarch of the United Kingdom is also the supreme governor of the Church of England. As of late, the Church of England doesn’t support same-sex marriages.
