Prince William is reportedly preparing for two of the biggest events in royal history: Queen Elizabeth’s death and Prince Charles’ coronation. After Her Majesty passes away and Prince Charles is crowned as king, the Duke of Cambridge will be known as the new heir to the throne.

According to 9Honey, the dad of three has been attending secret meetings in preparation for his new role as the head of the Duchy of Cornwall estate. As of last month, Kate Middleton’s husband has already attended three meetings just this year alone.

The court circular revealed that Prince William’s last meeting regarding the vast estate that he will inherit took place at 10 Buckingham Gate, London SW1. Royal expert Victoria Arbiter told the publication that Prince William and Prince Harry will also play an important role once Prince Charles is named as king.

“In the not-too-distant future we will witness the dawn of new sovereignty and the newly crowned King Charles III will be flanked by sons who love and respect him,” she said. “I dare say there’s no-one he would rather be supported by as he prepares to embark on his most challenging role to date,” she added.

Meanwhile, since Prince William will soon become the heir to the throne, his wife, Kate, will also have an even more important role in the British monarchy. While speaking with US Weekly, royal expert Rebecca Long said that the monarch herself is preparing the Duchess of Cambridge for her role as queen or queen consort by spending more time with her.

During their hangouts, the two female royals talk about where the monarchy is headed. According to Long, the lessons that Kate picks up from their discussions will come in handy when she becomes queen.

However, this doesn’t mean that Her Majesty will just hand over the crown to Kate. The Queen has no power to change the line of succession contrary to the claims of a tabloid. It’s also unlikely that the Queen doubts Prince Charles’ capabilities as the future king because she was also one of the people who trained Prince William and Prince Harry’s dad for his future role.
