Few voices resonate in the Latino segment of artificial intelligence as powerfully as that of digital expert David Rodríguez. In an exclusive interview with The Latin Times, the Colombian entrepreneur and digital expert unveiled his groundbreaking initiative, IA University—a platform dedicated to equipping professionals with the skills needed to harness the full potential of artificial intelligence.

His insights showcased the revolutionary capabilities of AI agents and highlighted a significant trend: the burgeoning influence of Latinos in the U.S. tech and science sectors.

Rodríguez's vision is rooted in the belief that effective communication with AI is the key to unlocking unparalleled productivity. "Imagine using ChatGPT not just for quick answers but to execute complex, multi-step tasks," he explained. "You can instruct it to scour every major newspaper in Miami for specific information, generate an article in your unique style, and even send it to your email—all with a single, well-crafted prompt."

Rodríguez believes that mastering "prompt engineering" is the key to unlocking the true power of an AI agent. He compares this skill to effective interpersonal communication: just as one must communicate clearly with a partner to avoid misunderstandings, professionals must also learn to articulate their needs precisely when interacting with AI.

Latinos embrace AI

This innovative approach to technology education comes at a time when the presence of Latinos in STEM fields is reaching unprecedented levels. The recent study, titled "2024 SHPE-LDC U.S. Latinos in Engineering and Tech Report" and published by the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) and the Latino Donor Collaborative (LDC), reveals a dramatic 60% increase in the number of Latino students obtaining university degrees in STEM disciplines over the past decade. Furthermore, the report highlights a growing representation of Latinos in technical AI roles—a testament to their evolving role from mere consumers of technology to active innovators and developers.

The study also underscores the tech-savvy nature of young Latinos: 54% use AI tools to gather information, 39% leverage AI for image generation, and 27% use it for music production. These figures demonstrate a strong affinity for emerging technologies and signal a future where Latinos will increasingly shape the development of AI solutions. "This familiarity with technology is crucial," Rodríguez noted. "It marks the transition from being just users to becoming the creators of groundbreaking AI applications."

IA University brings this educational revolution to life through a tailored curriculum that diverges from traditional, rigid programs. Instead of offering one-size-fits-all 100-hour diplomas, the platform provides a range of courses designed to meet the diverse needs of its students

. "Whether you are an educator, lawyer, or even a child curious about technology, IA University offers specialized programs to help you master the digital tools that define your age. Additionally, free content on their top-rated YouTube channel ensures that anyone, regardless of background or budget, can begin their journey into AI," Rodríguez explained.

One of the cornerstones of IA University is its distinguished faculty. The expert proudly mentioned industry heavyweights such as Pedro Uribe, former director of Microsoft for Latin America; Diego Camacho, a key member of Google's AI Committee; and Daniel Bedoya from Amazon. Learning from these experts provides students with cutting-edge technical knowledge and an invaluable perspective on global technological trends.

Rodríguez emphasized that the future belongs to those who can communicate effectively with humans and machines. As the Latino community continues to rise in prominence within STEM fields, initiatives like IA University pave the way for a more inclusive and dynamic digital future.
