Kate Middleton pretended to be Prince William’s girlfriend one month after they first met. At that time, the Duchess of Cambridge already showed the Duke of Cambridge and their common friends how hilarious and confident she could be.
In the book “Kate: The Future Queen,” royal author Katie Nicholl spoke with one of Kate’s good friends, Laura Warshauer. While they were at a university party, Prince William got hit on by a girl that he wasn’t interested in. The now dad of three tried to let the girl down slowly, but she couldn’t take a hint.
Kate came up with the hilarious idea of pretending to be Prince William’s girlfriend to scare the girl off. And in order to make her act convincing, the mom of three wrapped her arms around Prince William’s waist.
As if in queue, the Duke of Cambridge told the girl that he’s sorry to turn her down but he already has a girlfriend. Kate couldn’t help but giggle.
According to the future queen’s friend, Kate was the only person in the room who could do what she did. And the Duchess of Cambridge didn’t even need to drink shots of alcohol to make her more confident.
After the party, Prince William and Kate became instant friends, and they started hanging out with each other. But it wasn’t until after the Duke of Cambridge saw Kate modeling on the runway in a see-through attire that he decided that he wanted to court her.
Prince William and Kate’s relationship was a tumultuous one. They started dating in 2001 while studying at the University of St. Andrews. Two years later, they decided to take a break from their relationship. And then they got back together months after.
In 2007, Prince William and Kate broke up once again. But this time around, their separation was shorter. After attempting to sow his wild oats without any success, the second in line to the throne got back together with Kate.
The prince proposed to Kate three years later. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge tied the knot at Westminster Abbey in 2011.
