Kate Middleton reportedly has a secret shopper in the royal family. The Duchess of Cambridge relies on Sophie, Countess of Wessex, to buy some of her clothes.
Since the two female royals share the same taste in fashion, Sophie would usually send photos of the clothes that she sees when she’s out shopping to Kate. And if Kate approves, Sophie would be the one to purchase the pieces for her sister-in-law.
Since Kate is the wife of Prince William and she will become queen in the near future, it seems very difficult for her to go shopping. Sophie’s role in the royal family is not as important as Kate’s, so she still gets to go shopping with her children every now and then.
While speaking with Daily Mail, designer Donna Ida said that one of her stylist friends is good friends with Sophie, and the latter buys from them. “She got our [£295] black Sadie jumpsuit for herself and then asked for one for Kate,” Ida said.
“She said: ‘Kate wants one, can I get one as well?’” Kate’s never been seen wearing it in public. It’s home-wear,” Ida added.
Meanwhile, beyond their bonding sessions over the latest trends in clothing, Kate and Sophie are also very fond of each other. Throughout the past couple of years, they have been photographed chatting and laughing in public during royal events.
On one occasion, the two female royals also rode the same carriage to an important royal event. Sophie almost fell over Kate, who was sitting in the carriage. Instead of becoming upset, the two female royals just laughed hysterically over the blunder.
Kate also learned an important thing from Prince Edward’s wife before she joined the royal family. At that time, it was evident that the mom of three didn’t know what she wanted to do with her life.
In “Kate: A Biography,” royal author Marcia Moody said that Kate needed to make sure that she wouldn’t be accused of using Prince William’s royal connections to boost her family’s business. “It was something that Sophie, Countess of Wessex had discovered during her relationship with Prince Edward,” she said.
