Donald Trump started out his campaign by calling Mexican immigrants, criminals and rapists. The Republican front-runner's idea of "Making America Great Again" is to build a wall between the US-Mexico border to keep people from crossing illegally. Right from the beginning he said he would make Mexico pay for said wall. Former Mexican president Vicente Fox already weighed in and had some choice words for the presidential candidate. "I am not going to pay for this f***ing wall," he said. Trump is usually just talk and has all these ideas, with no real plan to implement them. Now that his campaign is kind of shaky and when important elections are coming up, he has detailed the way Mexico will end up forking over the cash.
Donald Trump sent a memo to The Washington Post where the main idea is to stop the flow of money of undocumented Mexicans living in the U.S. to their relatives back home. The idea behind all of this is that Mexico's economy would be seriously affected by blocking the reported $24 billion that flows into the country. In order for Trump not to do this, he wants Mexico to make a "one-time payment of $5-10 million." Trump's plan is to enforce money transfer companies like Western Union to have customers provide documentation that shows they are in the US lawfully. He also details how he would cancel visa's and even increase the visa fees.
"Mexico has taken advantage of us in another way as well: gangs, drug traffickers and cartels have freely exploited our open borders and committed vast numbers of crimes inside the United States," the memo reads. "The United States has borne the extraordinary daily cost of this criminal activity, including the cost of trials and incarcerations. Not to mention the even greater human cost. We have the moral high ground here, and all the leverage. It is time we use it in order to Make America Great Again."
