The Houston Texans will face off against their AFC South rival Jacksonville Jaguars in a battle between two of the NFL's more lowly squads against each other for Dec. 5's Thursday Night Football matchup on national television. The 3-9 Jaguars banished the 2-10 Texans to last place in the NFL two weeks ago in one of the low points of a disappointing season for a once highly touted Houston, and the Texans will try to avoid a season sweep on the road at EverBank Field in Florida. Back on Nov. 24, the Jaguars used Houston to put a halt to their own five-game streak of losses, beating them 13-6 in a game that Texans receiver Andre Johnson called the "lowest point" of his NFL career afterward. Since then, Jacksonville has been on the upswing - Chad Henne found receiver Cecil Shorts for a 20-yard TD pass with 40 seconds left in last week's game against the Cleveland Browns to lead them to a 32-28 road win -- though it's a bit too late for Jacksonville fans to hope for the playoffs. "I couldn't care less what (the opposition) think," Shorts told the Miami Herald. "It's the NFL. You're going to win or lose each week. For us, we're getting better. We've been 3-1 since the bye week, so if they've got a problem with it, come see us."

So how might the Texans come out on top when the two squads meet this week? Run the ball, probably. When they just barely dropped a shootout against the formidable New England Patriots last week, they put the football in the hands of running back Ben Tate over 20 times, and he rushed for over 100 yards. Compare that to what they did against the Jags the week before - when QB Case Keenum tried to target their star receiver Johnson and ended up notching only six points - and one of the key points of a Texas victory speaks for itself. If they can just come up with some points, it seems likely they'll be able to get a victory, as their pass defense ranks number 2 in the league, and the Jaguars don't have much of a run game.
