In a new version of the “cop and witness on the run” genre, “Modern Family” star Sofía Vergara plays the hot Latina widow of a drug dealer who has to be taken to a safe place by “Wild” star, Reese Witherspoon, who plays a pretty uptight, sweet but somewhat useless Texan cop. The first trailer of the comedy "Hot Pursuit" shows the two going through all sorts of trouble to survive and even shows Witherspoon insulting Vergara in Spanish and vice versa!
Anne Fletcher, who directed “The Proposal as well as 27 Dresses”, directed the film, produced by Witherspoon and her Pacific Standard partner Bruna Papandrea with Dana Fox. Sofía Vergara and her manager Louis Balaguer are the executive producers. Joining the two female leads in the cast are John Carroll Lynch, Jim Gaffigan, Rob Kazinsky, and Richard T. Jones. The movie reminds us of “Heat” with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy, except this one seems to have much more comedy than action.
Both, Vergara and Witherspoon took to their social media to announce the release of the film’s first official trailer. The movie will be in theatres next May 8, just before the summer and we can’t wait to see it!
