A British woman and her daughter were peeved when McDonald's employees in Whitefield didn't allow their beloved equestrians through the drive-thru, claiming they'd done it countless times before. Managers suggested they dismount and enter the store itself. So they did -- and took the 9-year-old girl's pony, Minnie, with them to order Saturday afternoon.

Christine McGrail told the Daily Mail that she and her daughter Olivia were stunned when they were denied access to the drive-thru. She said her horse Dancer and pony Minnie love McFlurry's and the two human companions often stop by the fast food joint to treat them. She admitted to acting "rashly" by taking the horse into the establishment, where the horse proceeded to defecate on the floor. Managers called police to the scene where they issued McGrail a fine for "upset and distress" to other customers, UPI reported. Management has banned her from the store. McGrail maintained that she caused no harm brining the creature into McDonald's.

"I think over the last couple years, we've been to that McDonalds at least a half a dozen times on the horses," McGrail said. "I didn't see anyone in there who was terrified. Everyone saw the funny side."

McDonald's said that she was not allowed to take her horses through the drive-thru due to safety protocol. Other horseback riders, however, said that they, too, have been through a McDonald's drive-thru mounted on a horse with no issue.

"The health safety of our customers and staff is our top priority and for this reason we are unable to serve pedestrians, bicycle riders or customers on horseback through the drive-thru," the burger chain wrote in a statement.
