A retired hero cop from Philadelphia is facing a rape charge after allegations made by two women say Richard DeCoatsworth held them hostage and raped them.
According to CNN the hero cop rape charge was filed on Saturday. On Thursday night the hero cop was leaving a party with two women. All three party goers got into DeCoatsworth's car and he drove the two women to what CNN calls an undisclosed location.
When DeCoatsworth and the two women arrived at their destination the allegations say the retired hero cop pulled a gun on them. He is then said to have forced the women to do drugs and then raped them.
Fox News says the authorities charged DeCoatsworth with rape, sexual assault and making terroristic threats because he "forced the two women to engage in the use of narcotics and sexual acts."
In 2007 DeCoatsworth was named a hero after being shot in the face while making a traffic stop. Despite his injuries USA Today says the rookie cop was able to chase after his attacker. DeCoatsworth caught up to the man that shot him and the assailant was sentenced to 36-72 years in prison.
In 2009 DeCoatsworth was invited by Joe Biden to President Obama's televised address to Congress and seated next to First Lady, Michelle Obama. DeCoatsworth is reported to have said he did not know why he was singled out but being "in the presence of the nation's leaders was an honor that I will keep with me for the rest of my life."
DeCoatsworth retired from the Philadelphia police force in 2011 and was granted disability. CNN reported that one of DeCoatsworth's neighbors had taken him to court after claiming the hero cop made threats against him.
CNN also reports that DeCoatsworth's bail has been set at $60 million.
