Throughout 2023, a Tennessee cop arrested and charged four sober drivers with driving under the influence, causing one to lose both her job and her home.
Officer Noah Werner arrested three men, including a teacher on his way to school, and charged them with driving under the influence. However, bloodwork later revealed there was no alcohol in any of the three men's systems, according to reporting by WSMV4.
It recently came to light that a woman named Sarah Pence was Werner's fourth victim. She, like the other men, was arrested by Werner in 2023 for crossing over lanes and showing signs of impairment during a field sobriety test, according to Werner's police report.
Tests later revealed Pence only had prescribed medication in her system, but the damage was already done. After her mugshot ended up on social media, Pence, who was in the second week at her new job, was fired and later evicted from her home.
Pence told WSMV4 she neither received an apology from Werner nor any compensation for her financial and emotional distress.
Meanwhile, an investigation into Officer Werner's unlawful arrests led to the recommendation that he undergo remedial DUI training. He has since resigned from the Goodlettsville Police Department to join a police force in the nearby town of Portland.
WSMV4 asked Werner's new department whether they were aware of his past infringements but received no response.
