The good news is that “Hawaii Five-0” Season 10 is already in the bag. CBS has already released its fall schedule, which includes the popular police procedural drama. Unfortunately, fans will have to endure a four-month wait before it premieres. Meanwhile, it’s a good time to speculate on what the upcoming season might bring, such as whether or not Jerry Ortega and Steve McGarrett will be back.
Lieutenant Commander Steven J. “Steve” McGarrett is played by actor Alex O'Loughlin. His return to Season 10 became uncertain because O'Loughlin previously announced plans of quitting the series due to the physically demanding nature of the job.
In addition, it’s also possible that O’Loughlin might have perished in the Season 9 finale. Omar Hassan’s wife was able to bring a plastic gun into the Five-0 building and fired at McGarrett.
Unfortunately, it was not shown if McGarrett was indeed hit by the bullet. After the gunshot was heard, the screen faded into black, introducing the big question on whether it was McGarrett who got shot or someone else.
CarterMatt presented two possibilities for that cliffhanger ending. The first scenario is that McGarrett was hit, and it was from his point of view when the screen slowly turned to black at the end of the finale, which means he might be dead.
Another possibility is that it could be Jerry. The publication wrote that Jorge Garcia’s character might have jumped in front of McGarrett to save him. Of course it could also mean that Jerry might be dead and won’t be appearing in “Hawaii Five-0” Season 10 anymore.
But there’s another possibility — one that does not result in the death of either character. While one of them might have been hit by the bullet, it does not necessarily mean that he would die. He might be seriously injured, but it’s also possible that he’ll still be able to survive the ordeal.
Regardless of what happens, the Season 10 premiere will likely focus on the aftermath of the shooting. But one thing is certain, other members of the team will definitely do their best to take care of the shooter.
CBS has already confirmed the renewal of “Hawaii Five-0” for its tenth season. It will premiere on Sept. 27 and will occupy the 8 p.m. ET time slot.
