Season 2 of Hannibal" continues with Episode 2 titled, "Sakizuki." The case of the human soup becomes clearer when a victim that has escaped from the killer’s clutches washes downstream after a deadly fall, leaving valuable evidence for the BAU team to uncover. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) assists on the case, sniffing out clues of his own from of the victim’s body. Meanwhile, Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) begins a plan of manipulation from within the asylum, set on proving his own innocence. Hannibal is able to put the clues together before the BAU team, arriving at the killer’s silo and helping him to carry out his fascinating, yet deadly tableau…just not in the way the killer intended.
Jack (Laurence Fishburne) tries to deal with his guilt over not protecting Will and submits to mandated therapy after Alana Bloom’s (Caroline Dhavernas) scathing report. To Jack’s surprise the counseling turns out to be beneficial. The BAU team independently arrives at the silo, finding a human tapestry of forty-seven bodies patched together, the killer hidden in plain sight. Awaiting his upcoming trial, Will is surprised by an unexpected guest—Bedelia du Maurier (Gillian Anderson)—who gives him a much-needed boost to his psyche. Previously on "Hannibal" Will was determined to fight for his innocence as Hannibal and Jack try to wrap their heads around the fact he’s behind bars. Meanwhile, Alana faced a strained relationship with Will while Kade Purnell (Nixon) with the FBI paid him a visit. Will Graham returned from Minnesota without Abigail, Hannibal Lecter turned Will in. Will was arrested, planned a desperate escape, and took Hannibal back to Minnesota to clear his name and prove he was being framed. Graham convinced Lecter to take him back to the Hobbs house in Minnesota, where he finally came to realize that it was Lecter who called to warn Garret Jacob Hobbs about his impending arrest and that Lecter had been manipulating him ever since to see how someone with Graham's unique ability would operate.
Crawford arrived and stopped Graham from killing Lecter by shooting him in the shoulder. Graham is hospitalized, where his Encephalitis is finally discovered and he is placed in a protective coma while undergoing treatment. Lecter brings dinner to Du Maurier, where she revealed that she may know much more about him than he suspected. Lecter paid one last visit to Graham in his new home: the Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane.
