Hailey Baldwin recently opened up about her biggest insecurities. The supermodel revealed that she used to feel inferior to her friends Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid and Bella Hadid.
While speaking with Vogue Australia, Baldwin said that she’s aware of the fact that she’s shorter than her supermodel friends. She also said that she has not walked on the runaway as much as her friends have.
“Even though I’m five-foot-eight, I’m not a runway girl and I totally used to feel inferior to some of my friends,” she said. “Look at Kendall [Jenner] and Bells [Bella Hadid] and Gigi [Hadid] … they’re all tall and doing every runway,” she added.
Baldwin went on to say that her life as a model hasn’t always been easy. In fact, there were times when she questioned whether or not she’s doing what she’s supposed to do.
“My burn in the modeling industry has been slow and I’ve had to learn how to be okay with that,” she said. “For a while, there was a part of me that didn’t know if I could have the career I wanted if I couldn’t do runway.”
Justin Bieber’s wife admitted that the criticisms she received from casting directors were quite brutal. Some of them said that they didn’t see her as a real model. Baldwin said that these types of comments were offensive until she found her niche.
“You can make it work and not have to do runway, and I’ve done a good job with that,” she shared. “I’m proud of myself for building a more commercial career that worked for me and being confident about it. Sometimes I feel like I’m still finding my own lane, but now I know I’m going in the right direction.”
Other than her modeling career, Baldwin is also busy with preparations for her wedding to Bieber. The A-listers will reportedly tie the knot on Sept. 30 in South Carolina.
Baldwin and Bieber’s second wedding will be attended by their closest family and friends. Their first civil ceremony took place at a New York City courthouse last year.
