"GTA V" for PC release date rumors have been sparked after gaming website GameStop listed the game as available on March 9: according to the International Business Times, the 2013 title appeared in the PowerUp Rewards area of GameStop’s website: "Using PowerUp Rewards during trade-ins and purchases allow GameStop buyers to earn points that can be redeemed for in-store rewards." While the title has since been taken down, it has sparked speculation.
Earlier rumors emerged that Rockstar was set to announce the game's release at E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo in June. A Twitter user, Lokiolr, posted the following: "Rockstar had something amazing to show but bailed at the last minute. Expect an E3 announcement from them this year. Likely 'GTA V' on nextgen." However, insiders have suggested that the GameStop (mis)announcement indicates "GTA V" on PC may come as early as May 28th in time for northern hemisphere summer.
"GTA V" for PC had been expected in March: the closest to a confirmation came in January when Thiago Diniz, a top executive at Brazilian retailer Nuveem, spoke with Brazilian website Codigo Fonte and revealed that the release date of "Grand Theft Auto 5" on PC had already been announced to him. “I see no problem talking. I think until now been confirmed. Is scheduled for March on PC, if I’m not mistaken, for the 12th.” That date has come and gone, however, leaving gamers anxious for news from Rockstar.
As one of the largest gaming retailers in the country, GameStop seems like one of the more reliable sources: for once we are talking about an American company, not an obscure Portuguese retailer. It seems like if GameStop has some insight into an upcoming release, then PC gamers can expect "GTA V" on PC within the next two months. Get ready.
