The highly anticipated release of "GTA 5" for PC, Xbox One, and PS4 may be delayed until 2015. Original reports from earlier this year claimed that the next-gen "GTA 5" release date would be slated for Nov. 14, 2014. However, according to "GTA 5" leaker HalcyonDeathSquad, Rockstar Games insiders at Gamescom 2014 were overheard mentioning that a delay will push the release date into 2015.
"GTA 5" is currently struggling with Heists DLC delays as well, so it's almost unsurprising (but still extremely frustrating) to learn that developers are pushing back the next-gen title. Beyond HalcyonDeathSquad's chance encounter at Gamescom 2014, there is actually plenty of evidence of a "GTA 5" delay.
First of all, there has not been any mention of the upcoming next-gen "GTA 5" title since it was first announced during Sony's E3 press conference more than two months ago. There has not been any further PS4, Xbox One, or PC trailers or gameplay footage. In fact, the next-gen game was not even available for journalists and members of the press that attended Gamescom. That said, VG247 believes the game was brought to the event, but was only exclusively available for game retailers.
Should "GTA 5" for PC, Xbox One, and PS4 actually launch this fall, then the window of opportunity for Rockstar Games to deliver an official announcement and launch marketing campaign is rapidly closing. Of course, given the wild popularity of the game, Rockstar could afford to skimp on advertisements, but this is highly unlikely.
According to rumors from last month, the next-gen "GTA 5" will coincide with major DLC packages that will significantly expand the GTA Online playable map. The long-awaited "GTA 5" Heists Update is also expected to release at the same time as the next-gen launch. Be sure to watch the E3 PS4 vs. PS3 trailer comparison in the video below:
