Wait, seriously? It was only Thursday when we reported rumors of a delay on the "GTA 5" PC, PS4, Xbox One titles. Now, a new report suggests that Rockstar Games has absolutely no intention to bring "GTA 5" to the PC at all! If this is true, why was the PC version announced at E3? What gives?
A petition to bring "GTA 5" to PC was officially launched almost two years ago. Since its inception, more than 720,000 PC gamers have signed the petiion in support. Arguably, a PC port for "GTA 5" is a no-brainer. What's more, overwhelming consumer demand should be more than enough to push the project forward. However, a Rockstar source that goes by the name of Brad has recently leaked a different story.
According to Fox Weekly, Brad is allegedly the marketing director for Rockstar North as well as the co-founder of a marketing company known as Rantic. In a post published on the Rantic official website, Brad disclosed evidence that suggested "GTA 5" will no longer launch for PC. Unfortunately, the Rantic website has since been taken down by hackers aggressively demanding "GTA 5" on PC.
Despite the desperate act of protest, it doesn't look like Rockstar will change their minds so easily. According to an interview on "GTA 5" for PC with Rantic Chairman John Hoffberger, the game could be cancelled due to "corporate problems."
"The next-gen console launch dates are still intact," Hoffberger said, "but the PC game launch has been agitating for Rockstar staff," Hoffberger explained. "Rockstar never wanted to release a PC version of GTA 5, but due to high public demand, they were forced to do so."
If what Hoffberger says is true, then Rockstar Games never wanted to make a PC version of "GTA 5" at all. Last but not least, let's not forget that when UK retailer game tweeted a "provisional" Nov. 1 release date for "GTA 5," the PC version was clearly missing
At this point in time, Rockstar Games has not made any statements in reaction to the "GTA 5" on PC rumors. Stay tuned as the story develops.
