It looks as if the lying between Alex (Justin Chambers) and Jo (Camilla Luddington) will continue in Season 13 of "Grey's Anatomy." According to Variety, in the coming season Jo will continue to hide the real reason of her rejection to Alex's proposal, despite his several sincere attempts.
If you recall, it isn't that Jo is not in love with Alex, it's just that she is currently married to someone else. In a bar scene Jo drunkenly admits that her marriage was just used to keep her secret identity. What we learned in that scene is Jo is not even her real name and she was once married to an abusive husband before she had to flee.
While the situation is complicated, it will be interesting to see how far Alex will let this go and if Jo will ever open up and tell him the truth about everything.
Ludington was interviewed by Entertainment Weekly about the heart-wrenching scene, wherein she said "Relationships like that are really, really complicated. It's not about necessarily being a strong woman or not being a strong woman, it's about someone being a master manipulator within that relationship."
She added that her character may feel powerless about the situation when she was with Alex. She said that the character was likely to be terrified.
Meanwhile, Season 13 will kick off with all the same drama we seen in the Season 12 finale, "Family Affair." In a recent interview with etalk, actress Sarah Drew (who plays Dr. April Kepner) revealed there will be no time jump in the coming season.
"The only thing that I know is that we pick up right where we left off," said Drew. "The writers actually stuck around for the whole month of May to start pitching ideas [for Season 13], but we wrapped [Season 12] the beginning of May. So I got little snippets of maybe ideas at the wrap party but nothing I can count on because it always changes."
"Grey's Anatomy" will return to ABC this fall for Season 13 and will more than likely premiere at the end of September.
