In a recent interview with TV Line Shonda Rhimes dishes on what fans can expect from the upcoming season of "Grey's Anatomy." She reveals the show will pick up with a limited time jump and season 11 will be a "[spoiler] centric season." So how much time will have passed since the events of the May finale?

“About 24 hours… maybe,” series creator Shonda Rhimes cagily tells TVLine. The limited time jump does confirmed a couple of theories. The first is that Meredith will be dealing with the results of Cristina Yang leaving as well as D.C.-bound husband Derek. It also perfectly sets up the theme of season 11.

“Right now, if you were in the writers’ room, you would probably tell me that the theme is ‘Meredith,’” Rhimes said. “Because all I keep saying is, ‘The show is just about Meredith Grey!’" Rhimes continues “It’s really a Meredith-centric season, she’s lost her ‘person,’ her [half-]sister has shown up, her husband is chafing to go someplace else…”

Even more Rhimes revealed that Meredith's secret half-sister, who is the child of Richard and Ellis "will be influenced by what Meredith went through with Lexie."

Rhimes says that this bombshell is one she’s been wanting to reveal "forever." Then, a month before the Season 10 finale, the creator says she told the writers, "'Annnnd... we’re there,' and they all [cheered]. So it’s pretty exciting."

Meanwhile Caterina Scorsone who resurrected her role as Amelia Shepherd from "Private Practice" has signed on as a series regular for season 11 of Grey's. Scorsone’s promotion follows the departures of Grey’s cast members Sandra Oh (Cristina), Gaius Charles (Shane) and Tessa Ferrer (Leah).

"Grey’s Anatomy" Season 11 launches Thursday, Sept. 25, at 8/7c.
