Singer Gloria Estefan and her husband Emilio are in talks to produce a Broadway show about their lives.

The Grammy award winning couple announced that they are working with the Nederlander Organization to attempt to create a musically based on their lives for Broadway. The show will be produced with the show's partner Bernie Yuman, who produced and managed Siegfried & Roy's show in Las Vegas. As of now the show has no writer, director or creative team of any kind.

"We are very excited to share this story, which is based on hope, determination and the belief that with hard work and passion, our dream can become reality. Our music has been a true reflection of who we are, where we came from and the journey that had brought us to where we are today," Gloria and Emilio said in a statement.

Their story seems as if it was made for a stage. Emilio left Cuba when he was 14 years old to go to Spain and then to Miami. He went to night school and worked in a mailroom. He borrowed money from an uncle to start his band The Miami Sound Machine, a band he started while playing accordion for the band.

The Sound Machine added an unknown singer named Gloria and would go on to make hits such as "The Rhythm Is Going To Get You" and "Conga" to the delight of millions of fans. Eventually Emilio and Gloria married, had two children and has spent 30 years together in both a business and personal relationship.

They have also been instrumental in the careers of crossover stars such as Shakira, Ricky Martin, Marc Anthony and Jon Secada.

In their attempt to make Latin music more mainstream, they spearheaded the effort to have a separate award ceremony for Latin music. The Latin Grammys are in now in their 14th year of existence and a major force in the music industry. The Estefan's have also opened Bongos Cuban Café, a chain restaurant and are part owner of the NFL's Miami Dolphins.

"I am thrilled to collaborate with Gloria and Emilio to see their amazing story come to fruition on the Broadway stage," said Jimmy Nederlander, president of the Nederlander Organization. "Their journey of success, led by raw talent and passion, is captivating as it drove them from relative obscurity to global sensations."
