Latino power couple Emilio Estefan and Gloria Estefan will be honored with a special award for their exceptional contributions to Hispanic Heritage in the United States. The songstress and her record producer husband will receive the Ponce de León award, handed by Spanish Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism, José Manuel Soria in a ceremony that will take place in Miami, Fla. on June 24th, according to EFE.
The Estefans, who since the '70s have been two of the most reputed artists in the biz, will be acknowledged for the deep ties that unite the Cuban couple with their Spanish roots and also for their contributions to the Latino community.
Gloria became a household name with her hits such as "Conga" and "The Rhythm is Going To Get You," amongst many more. She holds seven Grammy titles and has sold over 100 million albums throughout her musical trajectory. Her husband, Emilio, is a music producer who opened the doors to many great Latino stars such as Marc Anthony, Shakira and Ricky Martin.
