Girl Kills Herself After Not Being Able To Get Rid Of Her Pimples

A girl reportedly took her own life after being left distraught because she could not get rid of her pimples in Banda district, Uttar Pradesh, India on Monday, May 23.

Leading up to the girl's tragic passing, her parents were reportedly seeking a prospective groom to marry their daughter off to. However, the unidentified girl reportedly got rejected several times by marriage brokers because of her visible acne.

The girl, who reportedly fell into a deep depression due to the constant rejection, allegedly decided to kill herself on Monday while her mother and sister were not at home, Sambad English reported.

When the girl's mother and sister returned home after tending to their cattle, they found her hanging from a noose in her room. According to her family members, the girl was reportedly upset about her pimple problem and tried several treatments to get rid of the blemishes. However, the remedies did not work and an arranged marriage reportedly fell through due to her acne.

“We had several marriage proposals but she was rejected when they saw her pimpled face,” said a family member.

According to Bisanda police circle in-charge KK Pandey, the girl's body has been retrieved for a postmortem examination and the death is under investigation.

In a similar but unrelated incident, a 13-year-old girl reportedly killed herself by hanging, spurred by a deep frustration amid struggles with her weight in Trichy, Tamil Nadu, India on Jan. 24.

The teen, an eighth-grade student in a private school in the city, who reportedly assumed herself to be obese, slumped into a deep depression over potentially being overweight. On Jan. 24, while her mother was away at work, the girl reportedly took her own life by hanging herself using a shawl, Latin Times reported.

Later in the evening, her grandparents, who were at the home at the time of the incident, knocked on her door to serve her refreshments. However, when they heard no response from inside the room, the family members decided to break down the door to the teen's room. They subsequently found her hanging lifeless from the ceiling.

Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s mother, who works as an officer with a national bank, the Cantonment police have filed a case and are investigating the incident.

According to the authorities, the victim’s mother and family members speculated that the girl was struggling with her weight and was determined to shed a few pounds. Even though she tried out different diet plans to lose weight, however, her efforts proved unsuccessful and she was disappointed by the results.
