Gina Rodriguez has proven herself to be a jack of all trades. Known for her breakout role in the comedy-drama series Jane The Virgin, Gina can pretty much do it all. So it should be no surprise that the Puerto Rican actress also has some skills when it comes to rapping.
The actress recently appeared on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon to talk about the upcoming season of Jane The Virgin. During her interview, Gina revealed that she has a rap alter ego named ‘Cutz.’ While she studied at NYU, the actress claims that she would be often spotted rapping a few lines around campus with a friend whose stage persona was “Lady Fury.”
After admitting to Fallon that it was a dream come true to rap alongside The Roots, she was put to the test.
Fallon decided to put Gina on the spot and her performance will blow you away. Gina decided to rap a couple of lines from Nicki Minaj’s smash hit “Super Bass”. Fallon and the audience watched in awe as Gina got into ‘Cutz’ mode and completely killed the song.
“That’s my ode to Nicki,” Rodriguez said when she was finished. “I love you girl. You be rockin’ it. Work!”
Maybe her rapping skills will make an appearance on the hit show or in a Nicki Minaj music video. We can only dream!
Later on in her interview she joined actor Samuel L. Jackson to play a game of “Truth or Door,” where they had to pick between sharing personal facts or complete mystery challenges.
You can catch Gina on season 3 of the hit show Jane The Virgin that premieres on October 13th on the CW!
