Gina Rodriguez continues on her mission to bring more Latino actors and actresses to the forefront. With her "Movement Mondays" campaign on social media, the Puerto Rican actress highlights the exceptional trajectory of some of her colleagues and Latinos all over the world. Despite her busy schedule, Rodriguez has been dedicated to her movement that honors Latino Power on a weekly basis. This week, she has paid tribute to actress and activist Rosario Dawson.
"This is Rosario Dawson, she is a Puerto Rican and Cuban actress born and raised in New York City. She is an actress, singer, writer, activist and the list goes on," expressed Rodriguez on her Instagram. "Known for so many incredible roles, Rosario made her film debut in 1995 with her impressive role in 'Kids,'" she continued, adding a list of some of her most recognizable films, including: "He Got Game" (1998), "Men in Black II" (2002), "25th Hour" (2002), "The Rundown" (2003), "Alexander" (2004), "Sin City" (2005), "Clerks II" (2006), "Death Proof" (2007), "Eagle Eye" (2008), "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief" (2010), "Unstoppable" (2010), "César Chávez" (2013), "Trance" (2013), and "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For" (2014).
In addition to her remarkable trajectory in film, the "Jane the Virgin" actress focused on Dawson's passion for politics.
"I am beyond proud of this very intelligent and multi faceted actress but what I really want to highlight is Rosario's incredible passion and active voice in politics," she said. "Her efforts in urging and informing the Latino community of the power to vote is crucial in our lives right now (and always)," she said.
"Her involvement with organizations such as Voto Latino and her massive efforts in the Bernie [Sanders] Campaign make me inspired and in awe of using her platform to truly make a difference in this world," she continued, encouraging all Latinos to vote at the 2016 Presidential Elections.
"Latinos we need to vote. It's imperative for the future of everyone in our country but specifically for our fellow Latinos who have worked hard in becoming the fundamental fabric of our country. Thank you Rosario for working hard to use your brilliant work in the arts to create a movement during this election and impressing the importance of VOTING!!!," she noted.
